About us

Built for Nairobi, by Nairobi

We're on a mission to give every Nairobi driver the road intelligence they deserve — powered by the community, for the community.

Our mission

Community-powered traffic intelligence for Nairobi

Nairobi drivers face some of the most unpredictable traffic in Africa. Routes that are clear at 7 am can grind to a halt by 7:15 — and official sources are rarely fast enough to help.

Rada puts the power of the crowd to work. When a driver spots an accident on Thika Road, they report it in seconds. Every other driver on that route gets a push notification before they leave the house.

The result is a network of shared awareness that grows more valuable with every new driver who joins.

The problem

Nairobi traffic is unpredictable by design

The average Nairobi commuter loses over 60 hours a year sitting in preventable traffic. Accidents on Mombasa Road, roadwork near Westlands, sudden road closures in Ngong — any of these can turn a 20-minute drive into a two-hour ordeal.

Radio traffic reports are delayed. Google Maps doesn't know about the overturned lorry at the Mlolongo junction. Your colleagues' WhatsApp warnings arrive after you're already stuck.

Rada was built to fix this — real-time, hyper-local, community-verified alerts for the routes you actually drive.

How it works

From report to alert in seconds

When you open Rada for the first time, you draw or search your regular commute routes — the CBD to Westlands, Karen to Upperhill, wherever you drive daily. Rada stores those routes and starts watching them.

The moment another driver reports an incident anywhere along your route — an accident, roadwork, a hazard — Rada sends you a push notification. You see the category, the location pin, a description, and the number of upvotes from other drivers who have confirmed it.

You can upvote to signal the report is accurate, downvote if it looks stale, or leave a comment — Cleared, Still bad, Getting worse, or Traffic moving. Those comments help every driver who sees the report after you.

Reports auto-expire after two hours. The map stays clean. And the community keeps each other informed in real time.

What we stand for

Our values

Community

Rada only works because drivers help each other. We build every feature to strengthen that bond.

Accuracy

Upvotes, downvotes, and comment presets keep reports honest. Bad data wastes time — we don't tolerate it.

Privacy

We use your location only to place incident pins. We don't track your movements or sell your data. Ever.

Simplicity

Reporting an incident takes under 10 seconds. Checking your route takes one glance. Speed matters on the road.
